Playing Haus
“This is a familiar story to many of you, I’m sure. A beautiful family, a wonderful home, destroyed by lies, lust, deception and deceit. A classic murder mystery. What fun! But, my wonderful audience, I must ask you to refrain from the question of who. For everyone in Cuck Manor is both a culprit and a victim in their own right…”
Teddy and Lorelai Cuck have it all – a beautiful manor, a faithful and loyal maid, an abundance of wealth and a deeply lustful relationship. The couple are unapologetic hedonists, gluttons, cheats and worse, with a taste for the finer things in life and a want for nothing. However, things take a sinister turn for the worse when a spunky young plumber comes to the illustrious Cuck Manor to give the place a fix-up, just in time for an anonymous body to be uncovered by the ragtag foursome. Trapped in the Manor by a spontaneous, disastrous storm, Teddy, Lorelai, Mishka the maid and Ace Plumbing must apprehensively work together to get to the bottom of the mystery and find out whodunnit, with their wits about them, their lives and their balls intact. Prepare for brutal betrayals, illicit affairs, ulterior motives and perforated panties which decorate the Manor and haunt the four rapscallions – after all, there’s truly never a dull moment at Cuck Manor.
A play on the classic murder mystery genre, Playing Haus is an original drag comedy about lust, greed, class and gender. Playing Haus is a modern twist on classic queer stories with an emphasis on camp and satire. Theatrical, sexy, gory and absurd, this whodunnit is a burlesque, drag, black comedy, horror and pantomime show in one, where the culprit and victim are the least important facet of the story.
