Simon Bower

Sometimes Give Up

  • Australia

In 2019, Simon Bower gave up performing stand-up comedy due to panic attacks and other mental health issues. After a period full of study, growth, a diagnosis or two, losing friends, finding love and learning to dress himself, he returns over six years later to explain why he's incredibly proud to be a quitter with Sometimes Give Up.

Simon Bower's cheeky, self-deprecating style of comedy has delighted audiences in sold-out shows at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Melbourne Internatonal Comedy Festival and Canberra Comedy Festival. Now, in his long-awaited solo show debut, Simon pokes fun at the hypocrisy of the hyper persistent, taking aim at steadfast stalwarts like Winston Churchill and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and pointing out how they were big ol' quitters too. Delivering personal stories and observational comedy with disarming honesty and a sly grin, Sometimes Give Up is a hilarious, heartfelt, maybe even inspiring hour of stand-up about how losers never quit, and quitters never lose.

'Nailed the self-deprecation angle with aplomb.' Herald Sun
