Samora Squid
Squid's Sunday Sideshow
Hailing from Lutruwita/Tasmania, genuine sideshow freak Samora Squid brings their surreal, dark, physical comedy and deadpan cynicism to Melbourne's legendary alternative music venue, The Tote.
A one-hour ride of absurdity, awe and occasional brutality, witness Squid's unique, hyper-mobile body perform unbelievable contortion, as well as sword swallowing, live body piercing and a variety of other ridiculous feats that only a punk rock clown could survive.
After 25 years touring the globe with various circus-sideshow troupes (Le Freak, League of Sideshow Superstars, Kamikaze Freakshow, Circus of Horrors) and as a vocalist in the occasional grindcore band (Nowyourefucked, Onanizer), this is Squid's first full-length solo stage work. It showcases their highly skilled contemporary clowning and unique full-scale slapstick.
Squid's last Melbourne International Comedy Festival performance was in the double act Circus Horrificus, who's 2013 show It's a Western made the Herald Sun's top ten shows of the fest.
This is your chance to see high level, modern physical comedy in an iconic venue and laugh at the absurdity of society, fear and pain!
