Wang Zi
The Odd Friends Almanac
Wang Zi, a rising comedy talent, presents his debut thriller-style mime show – a solo physical theatre work titled The Odd Friends Almanac!
This is anything but a traditional ,quiet mime – it’s an action-comedy explosion that ignites the audience with utterly unexpected twists. With his incredible ability to embody countless characters, Wang Zi transforms into the bizarre 'oddballs' from the almanac. Imagine a mad scientist stuck with absurd electrician troubles, the God of Death trapped in a workplace KPI dilemma, a refined vampire tormented by a single clove of garlic and even a character with a hilarious hidden agenda...
Through mind-bending gags and precise physical rhythms, Wang Zi pushes each absurd scenario to the peak of laughter. He completely plays with the rules of the stage: his original 'Law of the Door' cracks spatial memory, while the 'Law of Gluteal Gravitation' shatters prop logic. Every instance of objectless acting is full of surprises, offering the most gleeful deconstruction of rigorous mime!
Audiences, amidst constantly broken theatrical illusions, will be treated to a relentless barrage of pure, unadulterated laughter stemming from physicality and imagination. Furthermore, it's a brand of absurdity with warmth.
Beneath the shell of extreme physical humour lies a subtle touch upon modern existential dilemmas, identity anxiety and the imperfections of life – giving your heart a gentle nudge in between knee-slapping laughs.
The Odd Friends Almanac – using the wildest physical performance to deliver the most unmissable stress-relieving riot and theatrical marvel! Come on, open the almanac – just laugh!
