Bad dates happen. Sometimes they ghost you. Sometimes they bring their mother. Hear from some of Australia’s top comics as they relive their most disastrous dating stories.  

If there was ever an expert in the chaotic world of dating disasters, it is your host for the evening, creator of Bad Dates of MelbourneAlita Brydon. Enjoy a hilarious evening filled with tales of dates that didn’t go quite according to plan. As part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival, some of the country’s funniest comedians including Diana Nguyen (Just for Laughs Australia, The Project), Peter Josip (2025 RAW Comedy National Grand Final winner) and Urvi Majumdar (Fisk, The Weekly, Urvi Went to an All Girls School) will retell their stories of bad encounters. And if you’re feeling brave, write down your own misguided connections to be read out for all to hear.  

Doors open from 6.30pm, where you will have the opportunity to view the Library’s latest exhibition Rebel Heart and grab a drink from the bar.
