Songwriter, poet, and extensive purveyor of the arts, Alex Carpi has worn every hat. As Melbourne International Comedy Festival front-of-house staff for the past two years, she is elated to be joining Funny Tonne in a new capacity to support this year’s Festival. Primarily a music writer, having written for Beat Magazine and Zee Feed, Alex spends her days launching her music group, Sticky Sessions, and working in cultural festivals, such as St Kilda Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival.

Partial to some clowning, physical comedy and anything with a powerpoint presentation, Alex’s framework of funny is “the sillier the better”, and props to anyone with the balls to show their… well, you get it. Alex is excited to spend her nights running from show-to-show, seeing the best that Melbourne has to offer, and topping it off with a Nutella crepe outside Max Watts.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
