A one-night only extravaganza that is earmarked early as one of Festival Club’s landmark nights, Comedians On Stage Auditioning for Musicals gets some of the most brilliant festival acts earnestly singing their hearts out to impress hosts Michelle Brasier and Ben Russell. With piano twinklings from the darling Gillian Cosgriff, it is an exciting change from the lineup nights that take stock at Festival Club.

The night carries such a warm, rambunctious energy, with the audience buzzing in anticipation for what is to come. Highlights include Abby Wambaugh’s middle-school-esque rendition of Part of Your World, Demi Adejuyigbe fully immersing into Dracula to perform Olivia Rodrigo’s Vampire and local sensation Conk going above and beyond to perform all the roles in a Phantom of the Opera number.

It’s definitely a “you have to BE in the room” type of show, that isn’t going to translate when you watch an Instagram reel of it later. If you have minimal interest in musical theatre or comedians genuinely trying their best, and if you like things to run exactly on time (part of the Festival Club general nature!), this is not for you. But, for everyone else, keep your eyes peeled for whatever silliness springs up on stage next year. You’re going to have a good time!
