D&D: Dice Paper Role & Friends

  • Australia

Watch us get kicked in the dice bags as we dive into some D&D dickheadery with Dice Paper Role & Friends – the improvised adventure/comedy show where the story is made up and the rules don’t matter. No experience of Dungeons & Dragons is required – just a love of storytelling and poor decision making.

Returning to the 2026 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Dice Paper Role & Friends brings its signature blend of fantasy, foolishness and fast-paced improv to The Motley Bauhaus. Join the DPR crew and a rotating cast of special guest comedians as they roll, riff and almost certainly ruin everything in these live one-shot adventures.

Every show is completely different – a new Dungeon Master, a new guest comedian and a brand-new improvised story each week. Whether you’re a seasoned dice roller or just dice-curious, you’re in for a chaotic good time.

Now in their seventh year (and still the only D&D show at the Festival), Dice Paper Role has become a beloved Comedy Festival staple, blending storytelling, improv and comedic carnage into a unique adventure every time. With over 200 podcast episodes and countless quests behind them, the DPR crew continue to blur the line between tabletop roleplaying, comedy and pure nerdy mayhem.

Previous guest adventurers have included Mark Bonano, Rosie Jones, Mish Wittrup, Scout Boxall, Jay Wymarra, Oliver Coleman and Scod & Yon from Tripod.

Fate favours the bold – so roll for initiative and get your tickets now.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
