Mathew Hespe

Pretty Thai for a White Guy

  • Australia

Hi, my name is Mathew Hespe, and this is my first solo festival show.

I’m Asian (white-passing) and neurodivergent (mild), so like Hannah Montana, you could say I get the best of both worlds.

What not to expect:

- Further references to Hannah Montana

- Crowd work where I ask what you do then make fun of you – who am I to judge? Unless you’re in real estate

- Impressive feats of strength (physical)

What to expect:

- A good time

- Impressive feats of strength (comedic)

RAW Comedy National Finalist 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

As seen on SBS.

'After a couple more years of experience he’ll be a force to be reckoned with.' The Funny Tonne (a couple of years ago)

'Hilarious.' SYNFM

'Quality laughs.' Hugging Comedians

Suitable for audiences 15+

Language – occasional coarse language

Licensed venue: under 18s will only be permitted with a parent or guardian

Political, religious or racial themes

References to self-harm and suicide

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
