Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

"Weird Al" Piano Bar

Lamplight Music presents

"Weird Al" Piano Bar

Come worship at the Shrine of Yankovic with Melbourne's silliest sing-a-long.

Returning after sell out shows at Melbourne Fringe, “Weird Al” Piano Bar venerates the undisputed king of the pop parody song – "Weird Al" Yankovic.

With lyrics projected on the big screen, here's your chance to sing, shout and praise his holy name in a communal karaoke worship service like no other.

Throw in some gags and games, along with some of Melbourne’s best musos, and your conversion to Yankovism will be complete.

With parodies from Madonna and Billy Joel, through Coolio and Nirvana, to Miley Cyrus and Pharrell Williams – don't worry, you'll know the songs!

Unless Al drops the restraining order, he won't be in attendance, so we'll have to do the singing ourselves!

Presiding from the piano will be Brother Joshua Cowie – the man behind the show (about the man behind the parodies). Joining him on stage will be special guest vocalists to lead the sing-a-long.  All vocal abilities are welcome in the congregation!  We're here for the comedy, not choral perfection.

Audience comments:

“A very silly show by very silly people paying homage to a very silly music icon.”

“It’s hard to sing when you’re laughing so hard!”

“Such a clever and funny show – we laughed A LOT”

“It didn't matter whether you knew the songs before or not as it was so easy to understand and become involved.  Sorry to see it end as I could have sat there much longer!”
