Marketing Campaigns Coordinator

The Opportunity

Melbourne International Comedy Festival is seeking a Marketing Campaigns Coordinator to deliver campaigns that build audiences and drive ticket sales for Melbourne International Comedy Festival produced events, with a particular focus on international special guest artists and other ticketed events produced by the Festival.

Key Selection Criteria

We are looking for a person with the following skills and experience:

  • Proven ability, and demonstrated experience in, developing and implementing effective marketing strategies particularly related to the promotion of the performing arts and festivals.
  • Thorough knowledge of the mechanics of marketing live performance including (1) design, (2) advertising production and placement of outdoor, print and digital ads, (3) print and distribution management and (4) a good general knowledge of local and national media.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience in copywriting and managing the production of print collateral.
  • A thorough understanding of ticketing and box office functions.
  • Demonstrated relationship skills working effectively with stakeholders and suppliers.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Melbourne International Comedy Festival is seeking committed and enthusiastic people to fill a variety of Technical Stage Manager and Other Supportive roles within the Production Team to help deliver the Festival program across the Festival Managed Venues in 2022.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

The primary responsibility of the Technical Stage Manager is to provide the technical expertise necessary to facilitate the shows in their assigned performance space. These performance spaces range from 50 – 500+ capacity venues.

We are looking for people with the following skills and experience:

· Understanding and experience with lighting, sound and AV technical systems and operation
· A drive to better one’s craft, improve, learn and take direction
· Ability to work well as part of a strong and cohesive team
· Preferred experience working in a live performance, theatre, events, or festival environment
· Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with artists and producers
· Preferred experience managing a venue and working to keep schedules
· Ability to liaise confidently, positively, and calmly in a fast paced and high-pressure environment with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
· An understanding of the changed performance environment during the COVID-19 pandemic and a flexibility to work within those fluctuating conditions
· A dedication to maintaining an environment where participants and audiences have confidence in our COVIDSafe systems and processes
· A diligence when approaching tasks accompanied by a good sense of humour

Casual Front of House Staff

FOH Managers and Room Supervisors

The Opportunity

Melbourne International Comedy Festival is seeking confident and enthusiastic people to fill a variety of Front of House Manager and Room Supervisor roles within the Venues Team to help deliver the Festival program across the Festival Managed Venues in 2022.

Under the direction of the Venues Manager, the Deputy Venues Manager and Assistant Venues Managers, the Front of House (FOH) staff will provide outstanding customer service to all patrons of the Festival. FOH staff are the primary face of the Festival and are often the first point of contact for the Festival’s audience members. FOH staff are required to confidently address and direct large crowds, professionally and efficiently liaise with artists, producers and other Festival stakeholders, must be able to think on their feet and adapt to a wide range of situations, must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be capable of working to tight schedules. They are responsible for collectively ensuring that the Festival Managed Venues are welcoming and accessible, easy to navigate, adhere to schedule and are clean, comfortable and safe.

Key Selection Criteria

We are looking for people with the following skills and experience:

  • Broad experience working in a customer service capacity
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a strong and cohesive team
  • Preferred experience working in a live performance, theatre, events or festival environment
  • Preferred experience working with large crowds and working to tight schedules
  • Experience in positive and constructive dispute resolution and the ability to solve problems in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to liaise confidently, positively and calmly in a fast paced and high-pressure environment with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • An understanding of the changed performance environment during the COVID-19 pandemic and a flexibility to work within those fluctuating conditions
  • A dedication to maintaining an environment where participants and audiences have confidence in our COVIDSafe systems and processes
  • A diligence when approaching tasks accompanied by a good sense of humour
  • A willingness to learn, take direction and work as part of a team
  • Flexible availability with evening and weekend availability essential
