In Bless Her, Helen Bauer is finally doing her therapist-appointed inner child work. Don't worry, it's not as sentimental as it sounds -  Bauer treats her inner child to biting commentary and killer punchlines, to the audience's absolute delight.

There's a quiet whimsy to Bauer's stage presence, which is what makes it all the more exciting when her mind bubbles over with chaos. She is a true natural on stage, exuding major best-friend energy. When she gestures to the audience to “gather in, gather in”, she makes you believe it’s the first time she’s saying these ideas out loud. Her ability to appear so comfortable while making jokes that pull at the frays of adversity is the mark of someone who has put in the work - both in therapy and in her comedy career.

Gentle, impactful and giggly all the same, it’s a winning combination for Bauer. While her run may be over in Melbourne, I strongly recommend getting your Helen Bauer fix however you can.
