“My name is Piotr, I’m a clown from Poland, it was an honour playing for you.”

By the time I hear this send-off at the end of Blizzard, I am close to tears and clutching my hands to my chest from admiration. My face is delirious from laughing so much, and also possibly the fumes from the fake snow machine. Sikora is the gentle giant of clowning, an expert at using his body to create work that is beautiful, gracious, experimental and, above all else, just goofy. He carries the weight of pathos and play brilliantly, and for the most part silently, relying on a simple set of props, audience participation and his own movement to accelerate a truly transformative love story.

This is a WIP show, so structural bits are being workshopped as each night progresses, but it is a privilege to peek behind the curtain and see a genius build something so epic right in front of us. I’m buzzing to be transfixed by this again and see how this Blizzard snowballs into something otherworldly. An incredibly special show exploding with humour and heart. Dobra robota!
