Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

Dane Simpson & His Dad The King and I

Janet A McLeod presents

Dane Simpson & His Dad The King and I

Winner Best Comedy Weekly Award 2022 Adelaide Fringe

Winner Critics Choice Weekly Awards 2023 Perth FRINGE WORLD

Dane’s uproarious stories about his family mainly centre around one hilariously chaotic character –his dad, Bow. This year, making his festival debut, it’s your new favourite jokester – Dane’s dad!

As seen on Amazing Race Australia Celebrity Edition, this father/son combo is delivering a hefty serve of side-splitting yarns, a side-order of gags and silliness, and a sprinkling of laugh-out-loud fun and mayhem.

'A masterful storyteller and infectiously upbeat presence.’ Chortle (UK)

'More presence in his pinky finger than most of us could ever dream of.' ★★★★½ Sunday Mail

'Simpson is hilarious.’ ★★★★ Adelaide Advertiser

Wagga Wagga’s Dane Simpson has been a much-loved staple of the Melbourne comedy scene since 2015, performing all over the country and around the globe (most recently at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in India as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow). Known for his bubbly, upbeat personality, Dane has been a regular on the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Question Everything, Celebrity Letters & Numbers and Thank God You’re Here.
