Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

The Butterfly Club presents

Knows, No’s, Nose

“Finish your croissant and then I’ll show you my bits.”

Two clowns live in a share house as they navigate the complexities of living as clowns. It’s easier said than done.

Clown A has been in the industry for centuries whereas Clown B is new to the game. Being fresh from clown school Clown B navigates some inner demons and thank god Clown A is there to, um, mentor them?

“I’m writing my resume… which is shit because I’ve been a clown the past seven years and before that I was at clown school for three years and worked at a cake shop to make ends meet.”

Bear witness to the household dynamics, gags and revelations of these clowns. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see how these creatures live. We’ve always wondered what goes on inside the house of a clown and now here it is.

What’s a bit and what’s a genuine moment? Do clowns ever get down time to just not be funny? Should we move on from the old school and re-shape what it means to be a clown? Who the hell Nose?

First premiered at MUSE Festival at VCA 2023. Knows, No’s, Nose is directed by Izzy Brown Rogers, written by Alice Ridgway, performed by Maddie Johnston and Alice Ridgway and produced by Claudia Harris.

Please note, the following performances will be filmed: Tue 2 Apr.
