Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

The 34th Annual Great Debate

Melbourne International Comedy Festival proudly presents

The 34th Annual Great Debate

Knowledge is power, except in The Great Debate where knowledge is optional and power lies with the moderator.

As is tradition, six comedic heavyweights will take to the stage for an epic showdown, this year debating the topic That AI is OK. There’ll be underdogs, over-enthusiasm and all-round laughs.

Moderated by Steph Tisdell and featuring Sammy J, Catherine Bohart (Ireland), Guy Willliams (NZ), Luke McGregor, Benjamin Law and Lou Wall.

The Great Debate – where critical thinking and comic timing collide.

Travellers Aid Australia will work with the Festival to provide support for people living with disabilities, or experiencing other mobility challenges, who wish to attend The Great Debate. Support is provided from 2.15pm from Flinders Street Station and Tram Stops 6 or 11 on Swanston St, as well as at Melbourne Town Hall. Patrons needing accessibility assistance can call 0498 023 959 to speak to the Travellers Aid on-site coordinator. More information here.
