Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

Urooj Ashfaq Oh No! (India)

Melbourne International Comedy Festival proudly presents

Urooj Ashfaq Oh No! (IND)

Fresh from the triumph of winning Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2023, one of India’s most exciting comics is coming to Melbourne!

Hailing from Mumbai, Urooj Ashfaq not only has a degree in psychology but also personal experience of her own therapy journey. What is her show about, you ask? I think you should ask yourself why you insist on knowing everything? Please, just show up for the thing, be surprised and go with the flow?

Okay, I’ll tell you: the show is about Urooj, her family, things that annoy her and things she loves. She will obviously talk about herself since she’s already speaking in the third person. "Please come to my show. I love you." Urooj Ashfaq

Urooj has appeared on India’s Queens of Comedy and just finished her first stand-up tour of the UK. Super skilled at crowd work, Urooj’s audiences are guaranteed a fun time as she charmingly entertains with tales of her parents' divorce, cultural differences and the humour she easily finds in the daily intricacies of life.

A fast-talking, quick-thinking treat.’ ★★★★ Evening Standard (UK)

'An electrifying comic talent from Mumbai.' ★★★★ The Times (UK)

‘Delivered with engaging skill and grace.’ The Guardian (UK)
