Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

Lauren Bok Boklesque

The Butterfly Club presents

Lauren Bok Boklesque

Welcome to Boklesque!

Award-winning comedian and burlesque jester Lauren Bok brings you a one-woman variety show of tease, hilarity and monsters of mayhem with her tits, teeth and a clown nose. Be delighted and devoured by a stunning array of the finest vaudeville acts from all over her brain! Meet the perky hula hooping Poppy Loppyplops, the dark queen Gothzilkia, the singing sensation Ivana Showoff direct from the Weimar, and who could resist the charms of the burlesque bombshell, Rose De La Fleur Le Saint Teeze.

A burlesque troupe like no other, performed entirely by one person! It’s saucy, it's titillating and for the first time at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, it’s hygienic!

Nominated for the Golden Gibbo at the 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Lauren has been described as "jaw-achingly brilliant" by The Music and "a joy to watch" by the Herald Sun.

Lauren Bok is a multifaceted performer who has been stomping on stages for over a decade. Her blend of honest, relatable and occasionally raunchy humour, hilarious physicality and rapid fire quick wit have garnered her notoriety in both the comedy and burlesque scenes in Melbourne.

She performs stand-up comedy regularly in rooms all over the city including Comedy Republic, Local Laughs, Lido Comedy, at the Festival Club and as one of the resident hosts of the Burlesque Showboat, delighting hen’s parties in the middle of the ocean every other Saturday night.

As a burlesque artist she has competed in the Mx Burlesque State Final Victoria and Burlesque Idol, and performed at The Lost Cabaret, Moulin Beige and Cabaret Impedimedia, bringing her cheeky, hilarious and clever approach to stripping with style to unsuspecting and underprepared audiences all over.

She hosts Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s children’s comedy programming including The Very Big Laugh Out Loud and Dino’s Got Talent, is a warm up artist for TV shows like The 100 and The Project, has a Dungeons and Dragons podcast ‘Dice Paper Role’,  voice acted on Night Terrace, has puppeteered with Snuff Puppets and teaches burlesque classes at Maison Burlesque. Ooh also the other week she finally finished her lockdown cross stitching project. Your girl is busy.

'Bok is the undisputed champion of physicality and timing, hitting every single cue with sheer performative excellence.' ★★★★½ The Music

'A quadruple threat performer.' ★★★★★ Theatre People

'Instantly relatable, charismatic and doubled-over-gasping-for-air funny.' ★★★★ Adelaide Advertiser
