What can't Elf Lyons do? In a show she first debuted at 24 years old, Elf brings back Swan, immediately breaking the language barrier and proving she is funny in any tongue.

Elf expertly toes the line between high art and absolute debauchery and I was reminded of how I usually feel at an Elf show. In her head is a well of Arts knowledge (depth: uncharted), you can tell she's done the research and the work, and it is her deep understanding of the texts she interprets that make her content so damn funny.

It's delicious watching someone so smart perform something so dumb, and in Swan I witnessed one of the funniest gags I've seen all festival, in which she rips off her costume parrot head to reveal the exact same head underneath. It was a skimmed over bit that didn't add anything to the story, and no one else laughed as hard as I did, but it was genius.

Elf pokes fun at high art, flirts with the absurd and is ever relatable. S'il vous plaît the track!
