Club Club
The 2026 loneliness epidemic has to be a psyop created by news outlets because I saw over 100 people pack out Theory Bar for the Opening Night Ceremony of Club Club, and I’ve never felt more invigorated by the human spirit. Club Club is the comedic genius of Proudly Melbourne, a collective who have created an alternative comedy fever dream with every night of their run being a different show. An administrative nightmare, no doubt, but as an audience member, it’s the crown jewel of the festival.
There is something unapologetically and quite beautifully punk about Club Club. Their DIY spirit, genre-bending concepts and experimental riskiness are the perfect antidote to the run-of-the-mill lineups that litter the city. It's visceral, loose and loud, the kind of comedic chaotic good that demands to be seen to be believed. It is exactly what is needed in comedy right now.
With what they have cooked up, Club Club sounds like it will be the premier destination for every actually interesting comedian in Melbourne this festival season. From all musical lineups to talk shows to film adaptations, no two nights are the same, so your mileage may vary. I know for certain that I will be a repeat patron, and I am giddy with glee anticipating what grand undertaking is next for Proudly.
Built by the comedy community, for the comedy community, this is one for the history books. Club Club forever.
