Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

Nick Robertson Leave To Enter

Nick Robertson Leave To Enter

Nominee Best Comedy Dunedin Fringe 2024

Leave To Enter: [noun]
1. Permission for entry to the United Kingdom granted by British immigration officers.
2. Something Nick Robertson was denied.

Fresh off the back of a critically acclaimed Melbourne Fringe season, Nick makes his Melbourne International Comedy Festival debut with Leave To Enter, an hour of captivating and hilarious storytelling.

From being detained for ten hours in Edinburgh Airport, to Nick's obsession with Scooby Doo (2002), come spend an hour with this "exquisite storyteller" (The Age) as he spares no detail recounting the time the most Scottish looking person, with the most Scottish last name, was denied leave to enter in Scotland.

"Genius." Tim Minchin

'A skilful handle of the audience well-past his years... harnesses narrative abilities akin to that of Sarah Kendall or Cassie Workman.' The Age

'Captivating.' TheatreHaus

'Waves of laugher... has an eye for building a narrative.' Hugging Comedians

‘One day we’ll be able to say we saw Nick Robertson when... and that time probably isn’t far away... You leave feeling like you have made a new friend, with the rosy glow of having seen a quality show.’ ★★★★ Out in Perth

'A talented storyteller... tight yet relaxed, relatable yet absolutely original, and silly yet tender.' ★★★★ Fringe Feed

'A masterclass in storytelling... reminiscent of the great Daniel Kitson'  Theatreview (NZ)
