Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

Toxic: A Musical Comedy about Dysfunctional Relationships

TOXIC is a unique musical comedy show that dives into the complexity of love and relationships with humor and heart. Created and performed by the talented duo, Hannan Azlan and Shayne Hunter, along with Max Lewisham, this show mixes comedy with catchy music to explore the ups and downs of dating and love.

The show draws on real-life experiences of love, breakups, and personal challenges, using humor and science—like psychology and therapy concepts—to shed light on why we act the way we do in relationships. It's a collection of funny, touching, and sometimes awkward stories that show different sides of love, from breakups to bad dating habits.

Hannan Azlan has gained international recognition, appearing on platforms like ABC and Comedy Central Asia, and performing all over the world. Shayne Hunter is known for his innovative comedy in Australia, creating unique shows that engage audiences in new ways. And, interestingly, Shayne and Hannan used to date, adding another layer to their exploration of relationships.

TOXIC invites you to laugh, think, and maybe even cry a little, as it navigates the messy, beautiful journey of finding love and understanding oneself. It's a celebration of how comedy can help us reflect on our desires and the complexities of our emotions.
