Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

ABC's Alice Zaslavsky Recommends

ABC Radio Melbourne’s Alice Zaslavsky shares her top picks!

ABC Radio Melbourne’s Saturday Breakfast presenter Alice Zaslavsky likes her comedy dry, witty and relatable. Here’s her top picks of funnymakers at this year’s Festival to add to your list! Here’s what Alice had to say about each of her picks.

  1. Bronwyn Kuss: Witty, dry, amazing writer and unique voice.
  2. Anirban Dasgupta: A super funny and sharp Indian comedian touring for the last few festivals.
  3. Lizzy Hoo: Probably doesn’t need a plug right now but what the heck, she’s super relatable and loveable, funny to boot.
  4. Luka Muller: ABC’s own, from triple j Arvos! He’s delightful and constructs really interesting and unique shows.
  5. Fern Brady: One of the best coming out of the UK right now.
  6. Bonnie Tangey: She’s doing a unique show about working in a lab that’s growing meat from stem cells, plus she writes very funny bits
  7. Suren Jayemanne & Matt Stewart: Last but certainly NOT least, a double-bill from a couple of Melbourne’s driest comedians (Matt Stewart - sardonic and witty, Suren Jayemanne – “has adult eczema”). Big laughs to kick off a night at the Comedy Fest!
