2023 King's Birthday Honours
Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2023 King's Birthday Honours!
In particular, we celebrate the recognition of a number of Australia’s favourite comedians! Their creativity, wit, and humour have brought joy and laughter to so many people over the years and their honours are richly deserved.
For their significant service to the arts, Judith Lucy and Denise Scott have both been appointed as Members of the Order of Australia (AM). Watch these stars of the Festival and comedy industry (along with the late, great Lynda Gibson) in the clip below, from the 2000 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
The late Barry Humphries has been appointed as a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for his eminent service to the arts as a comedian, actor, author, satirist and entertainer and to the promotion of Australian culture.
We would also like to congratulate Ben Elton for his service to the entertainment industry and Sue Broadway (a founding member of Circus Oz) for her service to circus performance and physical theatre. Both Ben and Sue have been appointed as awarded Members of the Order of Australia (AM).
The contributions of all recipients have helped pave the way for future generations of artists.
