Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

Melbourne Comedy Festival is back in 2024 with a new look by Brolga

Thursday 26 October 2023

We’re leaping towards the end of the year, with artist registrations to participate in the 2024 Festival now open, and a new look – featuring artwork by Australian artist and illustrator Brolga – launched today!

Melbourne will be brighter from 27 March to 21 April 2024 as comedians take to venues and Festival banners take over the streets – featuring Brolga’s joyful new character, bursting with light and excitement.

The Festival works with established and emerging Australian artists to create illustrations for all programs and special events. Brolga has created a jubilant creature to feature across the program for the 2024 and 2025 Festivals.

Brolga’s pop-styled aesthetic can be found in street art and murals from the laneways of Fitzroy to the streets of New York. Driven by the sheer joy of drawing, Brolga’s vibrant creations span toys, murals, books, paintings and now… comedy!

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges and sends massive thanks to David Booth for the icon of happiness that hailed in our 2022 and 2023 Festivals. David’s confident and robustly happy character embodied the spirit of the Festival, and shone a spotlight on the community of artists who bring the program to life every year.
