Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

La Mama presents

Ben Brooker All I'm Saying

Comprising dozens of slice-of-life vignettes shot through with humour, absurdity and melancholy, All I’m Saying is a darkly funny play about life under capitalism. Surreally juxtaposing the banalities of everyday life with the scale of the multiple crises we face, it shows ordinary people struggling for connection in an increasingly fragmented world.

A father and daughter attempt a reconciliation. Someone packs a go bag in case the fires come. Another frets about which toothpaste to buy. Against a backdrop of environmental collapse, these people strive to make sense of things and their place within them. In their hopes, fears and anxieties we see our own reflected back at us.

Part doomscroll, part pre-apocalyptic peep box, All I’m Saying is a play for our times.

Written and produced by Ben Brooker

Directed by Charlotte Rogers

Lighting designed by Lisa Mibus

Music composed by Richard Wise

Praise for Ben Brooker’s This Storm:

'Brooker is undoubtedly one of Adelaide’s most exciting emerging playwrights. Bravo.' Barefoot Review

'This Storm in its entirety conjures anxious visions of the near future, a mess of unregulated corporatism and a population both nightmarishly overcrowded and desperately lonely… what [Brooker] has envisioned is distressingly feasible, and the stellar cast make sure his message resonates.' Great Scott!

'Brooker’s brilliant writing demands that we face the future and bear it, whatever may come. It is a concluding message as hopeful and determined as it is devastating. Rare it is to find a piece of work at the Fringe Festival that leaves you breathless with admiration. This Storm is it.' Stage Whispers

'Intelligent, well-constructed and thought-provoking Fringe theatre.' Adelaide Theatre Guide

'This is a well-written, well-performed production that demands your full, unwavering attention.' Buzzcuts
