Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

Julian O’Shea M is for Melbourne: The World’s Mostly* Liveable City

Julian O’Shea M is for Melbourne: The World’s Mostly* Liveable City

Melbourne has been named the "world's most liveable city", which makes you wonder if the judges have ever experienced Hoddle Street rush hour traffic or tried to find a cafe open past 4pm.

M is for Melbourne takes an A to Z journey through the weird and wonderful parts of the city – from the truck-destroying Montague Street Bridge, to the Yarra's mysterious brown colour. This is a city whose culinary achievements include both Vegemite and dim sims.

Take a hook turn or a Myki swipe, and come on a journey through Melbourne's quirky past and present.

This show is for anyone who loves Melbourne or loves to hate Melbourne. Grab some friends, head into the Free Tram Zone and be prepared to join the movement to take on Vienna and reclaim the title of the "world's most liveable city".

Julian O'Shea is a popular online creator with millions of views across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. You might have seen him on your For You Page standing in front of a strange piece of urban infrastructure. Julian has performed at Melbourne Fringe and various comedy storytelling events including SciFight Comedy Debate, and has been a comedy writer for Mad Magazine. His work has been featured in The Age, Herald Sun, 3AW and the ABC.
