Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

The Funny Tonne

Preloved

Preloved

You might know Dilruk Jayasinha from Utopia, but don’t expect infrastructure jokes from him. What you can instead expect is a hilarious and surprisingly poignant hour of comedy.

His latest show Preloved details the journey he went on after a breakup. Yes, he’s far from the first comedian to talk about past relationships, but Jayasinha’s skill lies in somehow making this topic feel fresh and yet still relatable. Following him as he attempts to heal and love himself is delightful, the 60 minutes will fly and watching how it all comes together in the final few minutes is worth the admission price alone! The audience is told that there will be no infrastructure content, but seeing the hilarious, laughs-a-minute show Jayasinha has built is as awe-inspiring as our biggest projects!
