The Funny Tonne

The Late Nite PowerPoint Comedy Showcase

The Late Nite PowerPoint Comedy Showcase

The premise is simple: Comedians each presenting around 10 minutes of comedy via the medium of Microsoft PowerPoint. The payoff is clear, this is some of the funniest stuff going around.

Creators Sweeney Preston and Ethan Cavanagh are an incredibly strong duo. They emcee the event with exactly the right energy for this delightful late-night chaos.

It’s a real treat to see how each comedian utilises the PowerPoint aspect of this show. From Michael Shafar and Julien O’Shea who’s acts already include those components. (The former debating who is the most evil historical figure and the latter the merits of inflatable tube men.) To Claire Hooper who professes to not knowing how to use PowerPoint, but her New York Times Connections meets Melbourne International Comedy Festival comedians is nevertheless flawless. Add in a car piggyback, plus a song about selling feet pics and that’s The Late Nite PowerPoint Comedy Showcase! With a different line-up each show, this is deserving of its cult classic status!
