The Funny Tonne

No Place Like Home

No Place Like Home

Kyle Dolan's show No Place Like Home takes its audience on a storyboard journey through his family history and how it would look as a film.

Films are integral to this show and are an equally important part of Dolan's life, due to the escapism he finds within them. The theme of escapism is also a recurrence in this show and a relatable mentality for many, bringing a shareable personal connection to the piece.

Although a very emotion driven piece, Dolan finds moments to highlight the comedic, with an excellently delivered Christopher Walken pun-and additional cinema based gags.

Finding optimism and hope in the face of difficult situations is one of the main takeaways from No Place Like Home, as well as the feeling that the audience has seen a beautifully written performance.
