Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

The Funny Tonne

Funny Garden

Funny Garden

Aaron Chen’s Funny Garden starts with him thanking 'Prophet' Kitty Flanagan for casting him in Fisk and thus changing his demographic from broke 18-24 year olds to rich middle-aged women.

Sometimes you can just tell that a show is going to be great. From the moment Chen steps on stage he has the full attention of everyone in the crowd. One of his biggest strengths is in his near unmatched delivery style. Plenty of comedians are doing material about flying and marriage but Chen manages to have it all feel fresh and almost scarily funny. Crowdwork can make or break some shows, Chen seemingly effortlessly works the line between awkward and warm, all while easily shifting back into the pre-prepared comedy.

Across both tv and stand-up Aaron Chen is one of Australia’s brightest comedians, don’t miss out on seeing him before he flies back to America!
